UFC Veteran Chad Mendes Urges Youth To Train Wrestling: “Everything Is Easy Afterwards”

Mixed martial arts and UFC veteran Chad Mendes is serious when it comes to recommending martial arts training to the youth…
Especially when it comes to wrestling – but even so as far as striking is concerned.

Here is what he had to say on the topic, even on the topic of striking as a fitness exercise:

I tried to encourage people to do it. It’s a great workout.

Punching a bag, even taking a kickboxing class, you know how much stress release that is, just punching something that’s not gonna punch you back?
And it’s an insane workout.

It’s the wrestling career he had in college, however, that truly forged Mendes’ mental fortitude:

Going through college, jumping into the fight game, having to figure out bills, car payments, cell phone bills, being an adult with responsibilities and starting a family…

I’ve been in a lot of tough situations where other friends and family members crack and crumble and fall apart.
But it’s not something I’d break over, because I pushed myself to those mental and physical limits in wrestling.

And yes, he believes it’s something everyone should do:

It transfers over into life.

I think it’s good for anybody to go through that stuff.
