Kade Ruotolo Recounts Near Brawl with Troubled Boxer Ryan Garcia

In a recent interview, Kade Ruotolo recounted a tense encounter with boxer Ryan Garcia that nearly escalated into a physical altercation. The story, shared in an interview with Sportskeeda MMA, highlights the unexpected nature of the incident and the dramatic turn it took.

The Ruotolo brothers, known for their prowess in BJJ, ADCC and ONE Championship grappling, were enjoying a night out in Huntington Beach after one of Kade’s matches. Kade detailed the evening, saying, “We went to get some dessert downtown Huntington Beach. It was his girlfriend, my sister, and a couple of friends. We saw Nate Diaz and his crew walk by and started chatting.”

As the group was mingling and taking photos with Nate Diaz, Ryan Garcia unexpectedly entered the scene. Kade described Garcia’s aggressive approach: “Ryan Garcia hops out of some Escalade with a couple of his boys, comes straight into my zone, and starts asking why we were taking pictures with Nate. He got right up in my face, so I pushed him back and told him I didn’t like his energy.”

Kade’s account continued with the tension escalating quickly. “His eyes got all big, and I thought we were going to scrap. He looked like a little boy, and then he turned to his bodyguard and threw him in front of me. This guy was a big dude, and I found myself squaring off with him.”

Despite the heated moment, the situation defused with an unexpected apology from Garcia. “Long story short, he ended up apologizing and saying I’d probably break his arm,” Kade recalled, noting that it seemed like a drunken night for Garcia.

Reflecting on whether Garcia knew who he was, Kade said, “At first, he definitely didn’t know who I was. But Nate was trying to tell him, and eventually, he realized.”

The Ruotolo brothers continue to focus on their careers in MMA and grappling, with Kade looking forward to his upcoming matches. As for the incident with Garcia, it serves as a reminder of the unpredictable encounters that can happen in the world of professional sports.

Kade’s final thoughts on the confrontation were clear: “It was goofy, but we moved past it. I’m just focused on my fights and staying active.”

This incident is just a snapshot of the excitement and drama that follows the Ruotolo brothers as they navigate their careers in combat sports.
